Eastburn Choice Consolation for the Suffering Saints
Alfred Edersheim (a former rabbi) writes about the Temple – Its Ministry and Service. In these 19 chapters he examples the place of the Temple, the Holy Place, the Music, Priesthood, Offerings, activities in the Temple at night and day and on the Sabbath. He also investigates the festive cycles and calendar associated with the Temple, such as the Passover, the feasts, the Lord’s Supper, new Moons, Day of Atonement, etc. as well as purifications and vows.
This is an extensive study of Jewish social life during the time of Christ. Excellent work but long.
Alfred Edersheim was a Christian of Jewish descendent. His work reflects a profound understanding of Jewish culture. This particular work deals with the inner workings of the Temple, both the physical structure, its ministers and ministry (service). An excellent resource book for any student of Scripture.
