The Trinity
What is the Trinity? It is a divine revelation of God about Himself, both simple yet very deep and difficult to understand. There is only one God, but that one God exists in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Moreover, this three-in-one essence of God is absolutely necessary. God is love. Yet what is love? God is the selfless sacrifice of one person in sharing his possessions, his energies, his attention, his life, for another person. In order for love to exist, there must be three essential parts: he who does the loving, he who receives the loving, and the loving or evidence of the favor of one to the other. The Father loves, the Son is the beloved, and the Holy Spirit is the evidence of the Father's love to his Son.
