Well, this morning was the fourth time in the last week that my hosting company suspended this account. For my users, I am sorry for this continuing problem. As a note on this, there is another plugin, catlist, and I have disabled it also to try to see if we can do things without getting suspended again. But I have to hand-type the code to use this plugin in each post (the site has 2000 posts at present), so, being deactivated, this hand written code will appear as text in the posts with the word "catlist...", so please ignore it. I will remove that in the future or return it to working when the site is stable again. -- DCox

The Works of the Holy Spirit is a brief five-chapter work by H. Bonar {Presbyterian} on the works of the Holy Spirit. He looks at the works in the OT and then in the NT, and the Love of the Spirit, and then a chapter on Night-Daybreak-Clear Day, and then a final chapter on the Lord’s Supper.

When speaking of the works of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit is active in the salvation of a person's soul. His activity comes in the form of a general conviction of sin which goes on constantly between every human and his Lord God. But in the "coming of a soul to Christ", the reformed/Presbyterian view is that a person does not do anything within his own self to get saved, yea, it is impossible for him to do anything such as faith, repentance, remorse, etc.

The reformed view is that the Holy Spirit regenerates that person's soul "with irresistible grace" to make him have at a later point, saving faith. The order is very distinctive of Calvinism, regeneration has to happen by the Holy Spirit BEFORE a person is saved, not after.
