Speaking in tongues is phenomena based on Acts 2. Acts 2 is the defining passage of tongues, and it is very clear that the believers that spoke in tongues were (1) speaking in human languages, (2) ministering in the aspect of giving the gospel and clarification to people who naturally spoke those “other languages” (3) those “foreigners” did not speak the Hebrew or Greek, the two languages that these believers (followers of Christ with the apostles leading them) spoke.
The second clarifying principle passage on tongues in 1 Corinthians 14. The pertain teaching here is that the Corinthian was an unspiritual church in that Paul had to correct many doctrinal errors and misconduct issues. They were not the most spiritual but the least. Speaking in tongues was fully under the control of the individual speaking that foreign language. If somebody wanted to say something, the person speaking in tongues was to sit down under his own control of his own body.

In Smith Wigglesworth, a Pentecostal author, he presents us with elements which increase our faith. Note that this author is a famous “father” of the name-it and claim-it Prosperity Gospel. While I personally do not endorse this position, his work is included for research purposes. How to grow our faith is the issue here, and while not everything he presents may be correct, there are ideas here that one has to evaluate to see if they have some validity.
