AIMs

What is an Aim?

An “AIM” is an “Affiliation Index Module”, which is a concept that I {David Cox} came up with. The idea of an Affiliation is where an author is doctrinally and from his perspective. An AIM then is a way of somehow “placing” a writer and his work. If you know the particulars of a certain affiliation, that will get you a long way along the road to understanding the author, where he is coming from, and any particular disagreements you would have with that particular group.

Cost and Updates: All of the AIMs and CIMs are premium modules, and you will need to buy them. Their price is more like the cost of a regular book.

Renewal: AIMs and CIMs are premium modules which you must purchase. With every major version upgrade (1.0 to 2.o) you will need to purchase it again (this happens about every 3-5 years). All minor version upgrades (version 1.0 to 1.1, 1.1 to 1.2, etc) are free, and if you buy the module through our shopping cart system, your email address will be registered, and you will receive free a new email with every minor upgrade version with a new download link. I am planning on upgrading the minor versions about once very month to three months.

*Note the CIM code will be added to each individual module in the library with parentheses(), and the AIM code will be added with brackets {}.

 Development Plans

At this point, I have a lot of work ahead of me. I am going through the library in different ways, “filling in” informational gaps, as well as registering and updating the AIMs and CIMs. At this point, I am basically only concerned with getting every module registered, and then once that is done, I will go back and work on registering each topic or chapter in the CIMs. In a few instances, I am also filling in some of these so you will see how this works (like in Bible Characters). Be patient as I work through the Library many times over. Once I get all that done, then I will start looking at what I have, and analyzing where there are gaps in information, and working on finding new modules to add that would address these gaps of information, or sparse information on certain themes or topics.

AIM modules

An AIM module is an Affiliation Index Module.

What good is an AIM for?

First of all, this is where I am registering the modules by authors. “Registering” is a list of author-titles of the modules in a particular affiliation. This is not a useless list of modules, but rather a place to check up on both what the group believes as well as what other authors are similar to a particular author you are reading, as well as any other books by that particular author you are reading. I will be putting download links in the AIM registries so that you can go from your TW module AIM directly loading the download/purchase webpage into your browser. If the module mentioned is free, it will directly download the module without you having to do anything else.

For example, under Methodist, I have separate “tree branches” in the directory of that module for Nazarenes, Pentecostals, Holiness, Christian and Missionary Alliance, Quakers, the Keswick Movement, Wesleyans, the Church of God, etc. Under these different branches, I am adding denominational history and beliefs, organizing a particular registry, and adding special studies on issues they see as important, with a quick “heads up” as to what is particular about the group. I will also add my own personal investigation as far as what the Bible says good or bad about their views (my opinion).

Within the actual individual modules in the Library, each one will now have a link somewhere under the title and author that will say something like

AIM: Baptist.

This tells you that the author is Baptist. The link will take you to the AIM, and it will link to that particular author’s Registry page, with his Biography (at the bottom), and a list of his works. Notice first of all that the authors’ works are listed first. Secondly, is by his biography and other information about his life and particular doctrines. The “particular registry” for example would be a separate registry for say Baptist or Nazarene authors. Look at the image below as I describe some of the elements in it.

Sample AIM

A Sample AIM, F.B. Meyer

Here on Meyer’s page, I have a list of all of his works at the top, and his Biography at the bottom. Note that for each work, you can mouse over the title, and you will see where the link will take you , i.e. normally the title page of the module (for example the greyish box to the right in this image). Note that in this popup (Seven Reasons for Believer’s Baptism in this image), you can shift click in that window, and read the entire title page, including seeing the Table of Contents, Summary, etc. Whatever is there. This is like a regular libraries “Card Catalogue” system but on steriods. You actually go to the module by just clicking on the link.

The first time I work through the library (now) I am only putting a single link, but in the second pass I will add specific {TOC} (Table of Content links) as well as {Summary} links to be more specific and helpful. Note that these features ARE ONLY IN MY MODULES, and they are connecting EACH MODULE IN THE LIBRARY WITH A AIM OF THAT PERSON’S INFORMATION!

What this means is that each author has a central focal point where the author’s information is kept as well as a hyper linked list of his works in the Library, as well as biographical information on that author so that you can quickly find out his doctrinal orientation. Moreover, if you want to read more authors of the same affiliation, you can go to the AIM and “browse around.” No need to use the TW interface to search for a work, it is presented for you.
