This page presents Christian Reference works on Baptism. Baptism can be defined as two separate events. After a person receives Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, the church has the mandate to baptize them in water. The second sense of Baptism is the spiritual baptizing of a person at the moment that they believe in the Holy Spirit.
The imagery of baptism is a complete saturation of the person baptized with the medium. With the Holy Spirit baptism, the person has the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit dwelling within them forever. This happens at salvation, and is not accompanied by any other sign or outward manifestation except the character of the baptizing medium, holiness. They stop sinning.
