The resurrection is a “coming back into life after death”. We must put this into perspective with our other understandings of Eschatology in the Bible. Once God creates a human being, they will live forever somewhere, either heaven or hell, and there are no other places or options. Annihilation, or the ceasing of existing altogether, is not possible for a human soul.
But eternal life and second death are important concepts that enter here. It is not that we live forever, but the quality of life that we will have. Heaven is a place of pleasure free from pain, stress, or distraught worries. Hell is a place of misery without the mercy of God, where pain, worry, stress, and all similar concepts are without limit on those who are in hell.
