I have several categories that I am using related to each other.
Systematic Theology
First, there is Systematic Theology. To me (a pastor, a missionary, and the webmaster of this website), a systematic theology is a more formal presentation of the doctrines of the Bible, most notably, divided into broad doctrinal sections and presented in a formal, didactic way. See Systematic Theology Page.
Doctrines
A work that I would classify as pertaining to the “Doctrines” category is something that is more focused than a Systematic Theology. Every work in Systematic Theology could also be classified as a Doctrines work. But in the Doctrines Category (from my point of view and how I am handling this on the site), is not so broad, but the entire work is focused on expanding information and study on a narrow point in that theology.
For example, a Work on the Atonement, I would classify and identify as belonging to the Doctrines category, as well as Salvation, and Christology categories. You would find that work in all of these categories. See Doctrine Resources Page.
Theology
The theology category, in my mind, is both the specific study of God, theology proper (which to avoid confusion, I am not putting works on the theology of God in “theology” but in the tag “God”, see God Resources Page), but the theology category is also a catch-all category for works that I have a hard time classifying such as Dispensationalism, various doctrinal arguments between different groups such as Calvinism and Arminianism. See Theology Resources Page.
