I consider that the Attributes of God are not things which we like tourists observe but really do not interact with. God’s attributes, or moral character and essential qualities, are things which the saved person interacts with when they “invoke” God. We pray for mercy from God because God is merciful. We ask for things from God because He is gracious, and bountiful in giving. When we spiritually fail, we continue with God after because God is long-suffering.

All the attributes of God relate one to another, and they form a composite whole which is the personality of God. We have faith in God because of who and what He is. We thank God and show appreciation to God (true praise and thanksgiving) because of what He is and what He has done, and most important, what He is presently doing, and what He will do in the future. Eschatology hangs on one single point, the fulfillment of the promises and warnings of God. We wait for the rapture because we know God and have the utmost confidence in God’s Words.

Our communion with God has to be comprehended and approached understanding the sinfulness of man against the holiness and wrath of a just God against sin, that which is against God’s will. It should be a supreme importance for us to understand God’s character because our life is in His hands. Both blessings and pardon for sin lie in our relationship with God. This is not because we are something special, but because God is something special.
