Boettner – Atonement

Loraine Boettner was Presbyterian, and wrote this work on the Atonement, which explains the significance of Christ’s death in the scheme of God’s salvation created and given to us. In this 6 chapter book, Boettner (Reformed Presbyterian) examines the atonement. His chapters are the Atonement, the Significance of Christ’s Death, the Satisfaction View of the Atonement, the Active and Passive obedience of Christ, Christ as Our Redeemer, and the Representative Principle.

Boettner – Postmillennialism

In this 15 chapter work, Boettner (Presbyterian) examines the doctrine of Postmillennialism. He begins with representative theologians, an introduction, a statement of the doctrine and a chapter on “Inadequate terminology”. He then presents us with another 10 chapters on issues is and around the doctrine, like the world is growing better, the millennium not a perfect or sinless state, the 1000 years as a symbolical figure, principles of interpretation, etc.

Boettner – Inspiration

Inspiration is a 6 chapter work on the inspiration of Scripture by Boettner (Presbyterian). He deals with the nature of inspiration, what the writers claim, the Holy Spirit’s influence in inspiration, the alleged errors of Scripture, the trustworthiness of the Bible, and the plenary inspiration of the Bible.

Boettner – Efficacious Grace

In this 8 chapter work, Efficacious Grace, by Boettner (Reformed, Presbyterian), he examines common (that being enjoyed by all people). He first looks to the Westminster Confession’s teaching, then the necessity of change, the inward change done by supernatural power, the effect produced in the soul, the sufficiency of Christ’s work — evangelicalism, the Arminian view of Universal Grace, No violation of Man’s free agency, and common Grace.

Bonar, Andrew – Development of Antichrist
