The Birth of Christ correctly considered has to include Christ’s pre-existence for eternity past as God, the second person of the Trinity. The birth would embrace both Old Testament prophecies of the event as well as prophecies of the character of the person of Christ. The virgin birth by Mary is another aspect of his birth. Formerly this can be termed the “incarnation”, or the Second person of God taking upon himself a human form.
